Historical Connections

Brooks Turner

The artist has created numerous projects that observe the relationship of aesthetics and fascism. His artistic practice is a way of interrogating politics and its effects. The work involves extensive research and has included a focus on the 1930’s fascist group the Silver Shirts  and their union opponents in Minnesota. Figures from the Minneapolis Truckers’ Strike of 1934 are prominent in his work. His vision includes showing how the past connects to the present, locally and globally. For a more extensive presentation of his work see the personal website.
